Also known as an American Larch, the tamarack is native to the bogs of northern Minnesota. This tree makes a unique yard tree and becomes the talk of the neighborhood when it turns an eye-popping yellow in the fall. This is a deciduous conifer meaning it sheds its needles in the fall. The tamarack is truly an interesting and unusual specimen. 

Plant on the east or west side of your home for maximum energy benefit.

Soil conditions: wide range

Moisture tolerance: moist, well-drained

Fall color: Golden yellow

Climate resilience (ability to withstand changing temperatures and precipitation patterns associated with climate change): moderate
